Overview
Grantmakers of all shapes and sizes publish their grants data using the 360Giving Data Standard. Thanks to their openness, there is now a wealth of data available on grantmaking in the UK. But to get the most from this data and realise its impact, it needs to be used.
Our vision is for UK grantmaking to become more informed, effective and strategic, ensuring more money goes where it’s needed most to support communities and good causes through a better understanding of the grantmaking picture.
Grantmakers use the data to see how their funding fits alongside others, which can help to inform grantmaking strategy, for due diligence on applicants, or to identify collaboration opportunities.
Charities and fundraisers use the data to identify and investigate potential funders, tailor their application to a specific grantmaker, and see funding that has been given to similar organisations. They can also use it to identify similar projects that they could partner with or learn from.
Researchers, students and policymakers use the data to identify trends or see what funding is going to organisations covering a particular area, cause, or theme.
You don’t need to be a data expert to use the data. We offer a variety of free methods to access it – including our search engine for grants data, GrantNav, and our visualisation tool, GrantVis – as well as free guidance, workshops and 1-1 support calls.
We’ve pulled together the key information we think you’ll find helpful before you start exploring.
